Canary Islands to receive the largest budget of the National Agreement for the Sustainable Energy Strategy
Angel Víctor Torres, president of the Canary Islands community announces the imminent signing of the Sustainable Energy Strategy agreement with 466 million euros for the archipelago.
The president said that it will be signed with the Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, “which places the Canary Islands as a strategic location for early investment in the use of sustainable energies”.
An injection of 466 million euros was allocated to the Canary Islands as part of a 700 million euro package of Next Gen funds earmarked for the two island territories (the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands).
Navantia and Pymar analyze with the regional government the opportunities of public-private collaboration for the development of off-shore wind energy in the islands.
The president emphasizes that this project, which also represents an opportunity to promote R&D&I and its export, “would allow 20 wind turbines to generate almost half of the energy consumed on a capital island.
According to the President of the Canary Islands, the news is very positive and in line with the commitment of the Spanish Government and the clear commitment of the Canary Islands Government to sustainable energies, included in the Climate Change Law, as well as in the Canary Islands Agenda 2030.
