The Department of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands currently has an open call for grants for the energy rehabilitation of existing buildings. This line of financing, related to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, is endowed with 884,470 euros, an amount that could be increased if the amount of the applications received exceeds the initial budget.
The regional councilor responsible for the Area, José Antonio Valbuena, explained that these grants are aimed at individuals or legal entities that own existing buildings; communities of owners or groups of communities of owners of residential buildings for residential use; owners who are grouped together as owners of buildings; operating companies, lessees or concessionaires of buildings; energy service companies (ESCOs) or energy service providers; local authorities and renewable energy communities or citizen energy communities.
Eligible works may be carried out in the building as a whole or in one or more dwellings or premises. These actions must be framed in improvements for the energy efficiency of the thermal envelope, energy efficiency improvements and use of renewable energies in the thermal installations of heating, air conditioning, cooling, ventilation and domestic hot water or improvement of the energy efficiency of lighting installations.
The deadline for submitting applications to this call will be open until December 31, 2023 and the eligible actions must be focused on properties located in demographically challenged municipalities, i.e. with up to 5,000 inhabitants or in non-urban municipalities with up to 20,000 inhabitants in which all their singular population entities are up to 5,000 inhabitants.
The submission of applications, in the case of legal entities, must be made through the electronic office of the Public Administration of the Canary Islands: https://sede.gobiernodecanarias.org/sede/procedimientos_servicios/tramites/7140.
In the case of individuals, unless they are obliged to interact with the Public Administrations by electronic means, they have the option of making their application by filling in the standard form on the same link, and submitting the required documentation at a registry office of the Autonomous Community.
